Mike Bader:

I was saved in 1969 at age 15. We had a Christian mailman named Cal Morgan who attended a soul-winning church. His wife was hard-of-hearing. He came one day to visit my family and shared about the Lord. Mr. Morgan suggested I could talk to his pastor, Gordon Lindsay, to help me understand more.

A few months later, I did meet with Rev. Lindsay and he explained to me about accepting the Lord and so I prayed and trusted the Lord in his office. I started attending the church and a few months later one of the deacons became my friend and taught me about baptism. So I was originally baptized in this community church.

In 1996, after attending Grace Baptist Church in Birmingham for many years, I was called to Warren Missionary Baptist Church to be the Deaf Ministry leader/Deaf Pastor. There, I learned of the Local Church and the authority of each Pastor over his flock. So I was baptized in Warren Missionary Baptist Church becoming a member of a local Baptist Church.

Candice Bader:

I was raised an agnostic. During my senior year at college, in 1972, two friends dragged me to a weekly Bible Study in as near-by city. The Baptist preacher who led the study, prayed each night, but no one sat down with me and showed me from God’s Word how I could trust Him.

I must have prayed and believed on Him in spite of that, because, by the end of the semester, I no longer believed in Evolution! I knew the Bible was true. However, being a “Jesus Person”, [remember the 70’s(?)], led to doubts and fears.

So I made an appointment with a local Bible-Believing pastor and wife on a Friday. That day he explained clearly the plan of salvation, and my sinfulness, and I gladly prayed and trusted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour! God’s eternal security has been a blessed assurance in my heart ever since.
